As an International Programming and Content Manager, for Warner Brothers Discovery, Juanita manages the factual portfolio for the company’s flagship network. She serves as the key interface between the International programming teams and US networks, acting as a collaborative and strategic partner to the development, production, programming and operations teams for high profile projects such as Shark Week and Space Launch LIVE.
While at NU, Juanita earned several honors, including being the first recipient of the Undergraduate Achievement Award - presented by the Chancellor, to the NU student who has excelled both academically and through campus involvement. Juanita also made history when she ranked among the top five nationally in the television news division of the 44th annual William Randolph Hearst Journalism Awards Program, marking the first national placement in 20 years for the University of Nebraska.
Reflecting her success at Nebraska, Juanita has received numerous awards and accolades for her efforts in her professional career. Juanita has been inducted into the Omaha Northwest Highschool Hall of Fame. She received the American Forensics Association’s National Speech Tournament (AFA- NST) Outstanding Alumni Award – making her the first African American woman and first Nebraskan selected for this honor. She is a two-time recipient of the Discovery Communications, John Hendricks Innovation Award, named after Discovery’s founder, which recognizes innovative initiatives and spotlights stellar individuals and their contributions. Juanita also earned an Emmy Award for her voice-over work in the National Association of Women Judges (NAWJ) film collaboration, “Fair and Free”, featuring former Supreme Court Justice, Sandra Day O’Connor.
