Dean's Update: May 2024

The end of the year provides a great opportunity to welcome our incredible alumni back to campus. In the last month we welcomed back MRM Global Creative Director Ronald Ng (’93) and New York Times Reporter Dionne Searcey (’93) to talk about their experience in global advertising and journalism. We also celebrated the opening of Joel Sartore’s (‘86) ‘Photo Ark’ exhibit at Morrill Hall and Vern Powers’ (’84) honor with the Jeff Vaske Service in Entrepreneurship Award.

Jones named Fred A. and Gladys Seaton Professor

Valerie Jones, an associate professor of advertising and public relations at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln College of Journalism and Mass Communications, was named the Fred A. and Gladys Seaton Professor by the University of Nebraska Board of Regents on Jan. 2.

CoJMC celebrates 63 graduates at December commencement

UNL’s College of Journalism and Mass Communications celebrates the 63 students who graduated on Dec. 16, 2023, with a bachelor's degree in journalism. CoJMC is the only program in Nebraska accredited by the Accrediting Council on Education in Journalism and Mass Communications. The degree provides students with the technical skills, broad liberal arts education, and critical thinking skills necessary to excel in the ever-changing journalism and mass communications industries.
