The end of the year provides a great opportunity to welcome our incredible alumni back to campus. In the last month we welcomed back MRM Global Creative Director Ronald Ng (’93) and New York Times Reporter Dionne Searcey (’93) to talk about their experience in global advertising and journalism. We also celebrated the opening of Joel Sartore’s (‘86) ‘Photo Ark’ exhibit at Morrill Hall and Vern Powers’ (’84) honor with the Jeff Vaske Service in Entrepreneurship Award.

Veil receives 2023 Award for Outstanding Contribution to Public Relations Education

The National Communication Association Public Relations Division selected Shari Veil, dean of the University of Nebraska-Lincoln College of Journalism and Mass Communications, for the 2023 Outstanding Contribution to Public Relations Education Award. The Division recognizes achievements in public relations research.

Over time, the College of Journalism and Mass Communications, like other colleges and departments at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, has seen a steady increase in the number of qualified charitable distributions (QCD) from an individual retirement account (IRA), especially in the month of December.

Huskers win American Association Social Media Team of the Year

Two current College of Journalism and Mass Communications Majors, Tyler Hurst and Broderick (Brody) Wilken, and one alum, Avery Jelinek, won the 2023 American Association of Professional Baseball Social Media Team of the Year for their work with the Lincoln Salt Dogs.

Neill named November Student of the Month

The University of Nebraska-Lincoln's College of Journalism and Mass Communications proudly announces Alex Neill as the November Student of the Month. Neill, a senior broadcasting and sports media and communication double major from Lebanon, Tennessee, was recognized for his leadership and work with the campus radio station 90.3 KRNU.
