Journalism

Dr. Linda White joined the college in August 2023 upon received her PhD from Michigan State University. She teaches Journalism 200A, 200B, Fundamentals of Editing and Reporting I and II, and a special topics course in investigative in-depth reporting funded by the Deepe Family Foundation.

Dr. White is a quantitative scholar researching racial diversity in television news, the television news product, television news management, and non-traditional graduate students.

Dr. White spent 25 years as a television news anchor/reporter in the Midwest and southeast at NBC and ABC affiliates. She has been awarded a regional Emmy, Michigan Association of Broadcast award, a National Association of Black Journalists award, and a regional Edward R. Murrow award.

Dr. White received her Doctor in Philosophy in Information and Media (School of Journalism) from Michigan State University, a master's in journalism from Ball State University and a Bachelor of Science in Journalism from Ohio University.

Dr. White is an army brat and PK (preacher's kid). She was born on the tail-end of her father's army career as a military chaplain. She is the mother of one daughter. Dr. White returned to college to earn her higher education degrees after 25 years in the TV news industry to share her knowledge of journalism with the next generation of journalists. She enjoys reading sci-fi, watching NFL, and riding her bicycle.
