ACES: The Society for Editing

With almost 2,000 members, ACES: The Society for Editing is the nation’s leading organization for editing professionals. Its aim is to improve communication and the working lives of editors. Students at CoJMC have a long history of involvement in ACES through one of the few student chapters in the country. Each spring, CoJMC students attend a national conference to network with innovators in the field and attend workshops on editing. Students have landed internships and jobs because of the connections they’ve made with ACES professionals. On campus, the chapter has hosted guest speakers, game days (think Scrabble) and resume editing workshops that give them the opportunity to make a real impact.

ACES helped me recognize how important copy editing is for communication and how many different fields need copy editors. It's not just about print journalism and publishing. Copy editors are important in business, medicine and so much more. I love honing this skill and ACES is always teaching me more about editing. Nicole Eisenbraun journalism and English major
