University of Nebraska–Lincoln CoJMC wins 6 top Nebraska ADDY awards

The University of Nebraska–Lincoln College of Journalism and Mass Communications received six awards, including Student Best of Show, at the Nebraska American Advertising ADDYs Awards event held Feb. 20 in Omaha.

University of Nebraska–Lincoln won Student Best of Show, two Gold ADDYs and three Silver ADDYs. The work represented in-class projects and collateral from the CoJMC’s National Student Advertising Competition.

“We are so proud of what our students and faculty have accomplished,” Associate Dean and ADPR sequence head Frauke Hachtmann said. “We strongly emphasize real-life learning experiences in the advertising and public relations curriculum from day one, culminating in fully integrated campaigns experiences inside and outside the classroom.”

The 2015 University of Nebraska–Lincoln NSAC team won Student Best of Show and a Gold ADDY for its video “Old Fashioned Meat Brawl.” This commercial was created as part of the team’s Flavor of Now campaign, which also won a Gold ADDY. The 2015 NSAC client was Pizza Hut.

The team also won a Silver ADDY in the print campaign category for the Flavor of Now campaign. Faculty advisors Michael Goff, advertising and public relations professor of practice, and Rich Bailey, adjunct professor lead the team.

The additional Silver ADDYs were awarded to students in the Advertising and Public Relations Design & Layout class taught by Adam Wagler, assistant professor of advertising and public relations. Brooke Lehman is a junior double major in art and advertising and public relations from Lincoln. Hannah Paxton is a senior double major in marketing and advertising and public relations from Wakefield.
