Saturday, March 21, 2015 - 7:00pm

Sriyani Tidball, assistant professor of practice of the College of Journalism and Mass Communications was selected as a “woman of character, courage and commitment” by the University of Nebraska–Lincoln Women’s Center as a part of the Women’s Week 2015 celebration.

Tidball teaches in the Advertising and Public Relations sequence and was featured in the “Celebrating Women of Character, Courage and Commitment” exhibit from March 16-20 next to the Caffina Café in the Nebraska Union as well as on the University of Nebraska–Lincoln Women’s Center website.

The exhibit was a feature of Women’s Week 2015, a week-long celebration of the theme, Power Play, which explores the intersection of gender, identity and power across many domains of life. The Courage, Character and Commitment collection celebrates women within the university who have been a positive influence on students in a professional, personal or mentor relationship.

“I was really humbled and honored to have been nominated for the Woman of Character, Courage, and Commitment award. It is especially meaningful since this nomination came from students, the young people that I love working with,” said Tidball. “During my teaching years I have been surrounded by students who share the passion to be world changers and make this world a better place for the marginalized, so I would like to dedicate this award back to the students who have been an inspiration to me."

In addition to the exhibit, Tidball was honored at the Tenth Annual Women’s History Month Banquet on Thursday, March 19. The banquet included both the celebration of nominees as well as keynote address from Shonna Dorsey, managing director of Interface: The Web School.
