Students receive 9 Eric Sevareid Awards from Midwest Broadcast Journalists Association

University of Nebraska–Lincoln College of Journalism & Mass Communications students received nine 2016 Eric Sevareid Awards from the Midwest Broadcast Journalists Association.

There were 770 entries in the student and professional journalism awards competitions, comprising a six-state region that includes Nebraska, Iowa, Minnesota, Wisconsin, North Dakota and South Dakota. The CoJMC was placed first in four categories and received five Awards of Merit.

The Eric Sevareid Awards are named for the North Dakota-born journalist best known for his work as a correspondent for CBS Radio and Television. Each year, the Midwest Broadcast Journalists Association presents awards to the best work done by broadcast news operations and journalists working in small, medium and large markets in the six-state region on radio, television and online.
