PRSSA members received two top awards for leadership and program development at University of Nebraska–Lincoln’s Student Impact Awards on Thursday, March 29.

Members from numerous Registered Student Organizations gathered in the Nebraska Union Ballroom to commend and honor their members. A team of judges made up of University of Nebraska-Lincoln’s staff reviewed nominations to choose a winner for each of the 11 award categories.

ADPR and Broadcasting senior Anna Fobair received the Student Leadership Award and was applauded for her contributions to the campus.

“Ms. Fobair is not shy about her passion for advertising and public relations work,” wrote Professor Michael Goff, one of her nominators. “And never does she shy away from work or responsibility. Leadership seems to come naturally to her.”

Fobair was also nominated for Outstanding President along with 13 other RSO presidents. ADPR senior Karley Powell was nominated for Outstanding Member for her commendable dedication to PRSSA.

University of Nebraska–Lincoln PRSSA’s 2017-18 Bateman Team’s Redirecting the Conversation Campaign won the award for Program of the Year. Team members include ADPR seniors Karley Powell, Bari Pearlman, Cassie McCormick, Elizabeth Snyder and recent ADPR graduate Erin Lenz.

“These finalists were chosen because they go beyond expectations in their leadership, they foster their community on campus and they demonstrate extraordinary commitment to their organizations,” said Laurie Bellows, vice chancellor of student affairs.

The Student Impact Awards were developed by the Office of Student Involvement. This year, more than 60 nominations were made by 34 RSOs.
