A message from Dean Struthers

Dear Friends,

Come home to CoJMC.

That’s our invitation to all of you, our alums, for the college’s first-ever Homecoming Reception on Friday September 28 from 5pm to 7pm at Andersen. Mark your own calendars now to join us!

We know that our former students remember the special relationships they developed with faculty and staff at CoJMC. For that reason, all of our retired and emeriti faculty and staff will be invited.

And we know that Nebraska Hall or Avery Hall was “home” to many of you. So we plan to have tour guides in those buildings to let you see the old haunts and hallowed halls.

The Daily Nebraskan will be another place many of you may want to visit. We are working with General Manager Dan Shattil to have the space open for our alums to tour.

At Andersen, we will be serving hors d’oeuvres and beverages, including wine and beer. The building will be closed to current students for the party to abide by UNL alcohol permit requirements.

You can come and go as you like, as there is no formal program.

And for the first time ever, UNL is hosting Multicultural Homecoming, a series of campus-wide events specifically for alums of color and allies. For a small registration fee, grads will be able to add these special campus-wide activities into the campus experience, including a tailgate prior to the homecoming football game.

Our hope is for a turnout at Andersen to match or exceed the amazing spring graduation reception we held that welcomed over 300 attendees into our space.

Homecoming is one more step in celebrating the positive, cohesive culture of pride in our college’s great legacy and exciting future.

It’s always fun to have a great party to look forward to. Please plan to be a part of it all!
