Jacht Ad Lab announces new members for spring 2020

Tuesday, December 3, 2019 - 9:00pm

Members of the Jacht Ad Lab are excited to announce its crew for spring 2020. Forty-nine new members represent both new and returning student “Jachters” from diverse backgrounds and disciplines at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.

Jacht is UNL’s student-run advertising agency through the College of Journalism and Mass Communications. Jacht provides students with real-world experience that builds on classroom instruction by giving students opportunities to work in a real advertising agency setting.

This semester, Jemalyn Griffin will serve as the director of the program. Griffin is an assistant professor of practice in advertising and public relations at the CoJMC.

“Jacht provides students with the chance to experience a real-world agency with paying clients,” Griffin said. “They get to work in teams to produce meaningful work and solve creative challenges, which sets them apart and gives them an advantage when they enter the industry after college.”

Alan Eno, assistant professor of practice in journalism at CoJMC, manages the video and multimedia department. Katie Krcmarik, assistant professor of practice in advertising and public relations at CoJMC, manages the creative team.

Students use their skills and knowledge to work with real clients such as the John Breslow Ice Hockey Center, the Lied Center for the Performing Arts and Nebraska Civic Engagement Table.

Jacht students will have access to mentorship from Griffin, Eno and Krcmarik and other industry professionals from local advertising agencies such as Archrival.
