Jacht News Release

July 17

LINCOLN, Neb. - Jacht Ad Agency’s crew members are working over the summer for the first Jacht Summer Internship in the agency’s 10 years of existence. In the midst of Covid-19, working remotely is just one adjustment that has been made to maintain a safe and healthy working environment for both students and clients. While procedures look different this summer, projects are swiftly moving forward.

Jacht has 7 clients this summer, including Omaha Public Schools and Husker Dialogues. The crew has been creative with implementing projects due to circumstances out of our control, so out-of-the-box thinking has been a major factor for this summer. We have enjoyed working with a diverse group of clients while completing a range of project types.

Omaha Public Schools is celebrating its 160-year anniversary and black history in Omaha by commissioning local artists to create a 160-year timeline mural. The pandemic caused deadlines to be pushed back for the launch of this project, so our students created an online experience to showcase the creation of the art. An interactive brochure is also being developed for people to engage with the project remotely.

Husker Dialogues is designed to introduce first-year students to tools in order to create meaningful conversations and an inclusive Husker community. Jacht students have been working on a campaign to encourage all Huskers to engage in difficult conversations and lean into creating a “Brave Space”. One component of the campaign is to do a “TikTok” challenge with a duet-style video. A group of Jacht students meet weekly to design everything from the Husker Dialogues collateral to creating a “Best Practices” infographic for student influencers across campus. Jacht is also partnering with UCOMM to release a campaign on @UNLincoln social channels.

Jacht is implementing a Diversity and Inclusion Toolkit to integrate a few cultural and leadership changes to the agency, including working with the Malone Center as a pro bono client for the fall and introducing a D&I leadership position within our executive board this coming academic year.

Jacht Ad Agency is a full-service, student-run advertising agency offered by the College of Journalism and Mass Communications. Jacht offers many creative services including: strategic branding, integrated marketing communications, campaign concepts, videography, photography, social media strategy, content creation, print design and public relations.
