CoJMC celebrates more than 340 annual awards and honors

Students, faculty and staff from the College of Journalism and Mass Communications at University of Nebraska–Lincoln earned 348 top awards, honors and other recognitions in the 2015-‘16 academic year.

“I am beyond proud of our college and the talented students, faculty and staff who I have the privilege to work with every day,” said College of Journalism and Mass Communications Dean Maria Marron. “We have a community here that inspires and encourages each other to continue to create and innovate. The College of Journalism and Mass Communications at University of Nebraska–Lincoln has been one of the nation’s top journalism programs for many years and is legendary for the quality of its faculty and graduates.”

Among the top honors for the 2015-16 academic year are a fifth place finish overall in the Hearst Journalism Awards, with broadcasting student Tommy Rezac placing second in the nation.

Also receiving top recognition this year was Professor Matt Waite who was awarded the Innovation, Development, and Engagement Award (IDEA) by NU President Hank Bounds on behalf of the University of Nebraska.

More than 30 journalism, broadcasting, advertising, public relations and education organizations recognized CoJMC students, faculty and staff.
