Two University of Nebraska–Lincoln College of Journalism and Mass Communications recognized student organizations (RSO) received Student Impact Awards from University of Nebraska–Lincoln Student Involvement at the annual ceremony on April 13.

The University of Nebraska–Lincoln chapter of Public Relations Student Society of America (PRSSA) received the Program of the Year award for its Coffee with a Cause campaign, and Nebraska University Students Against Modern-day Slavery (NUSAMS) received the Philanthropy and Service Award for its Dollars for Diapers project.

The PRSSA had finalists in three additional categories:

  • Outstanding Member: Ryann Lynn
  • Outstanding Officer: Ryan Rothman
  • Outstanding Advisor: Phyllis Larsen

PRSSA’s Coffee with a Cause campaign promoted the Arbor Day Foundation’s Rainforest Rescue coffee that is served in University of Nebraska–Lincoln dining halls and available for purchase in on-campus convenience stores.

NUSAMS’s Dollars for Diapers project raised money to purchase diapers that were donated to The BAY, which is a youth-focused center that’s “centered on creating opportunities for youth to connect them with positive activities, positive adults and the community.”

University of Nebraska–Lincoln has 550 RSOs, and this year’s awards had the most entries than ever before. The Student Impact Awards honor leaders on campus, including outstanding RSO officers, members and advisors.
