Valerie Jones brings her extensive professional experience in integrated media communications, branding, and consumer behavior into her work. Her research bridges the professional and academic communities, exploring the intersection of digital media, innovation, and culture, and focusing on how digital media impacts our lives. She published some of the earliest work in her field about the influence of voice-powered artificial intelligence assistants, and her latest work explores how those assistants influence loneliness and social isolation in aging adults. Jones graduated from Northwestern University with bachelor’s degrees in communication studies and sociology and a master’s degree in integrated marketing communications. She earned a Ph.D. in educational studies from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.
