Jennifer Sheppard is an assistant professor of practice at the College of Journalism and Mass Communications teaching sports media courses.
Sheppard is a Florida native with a bachelor's degree in mass communications from the University of South Florida and a master's degree in magazine, newspaper and online journalism from Syracuse University. Prior to joining the CoJMC, she worked in corporate public relations for Monster Energy Supercross, the most prestigious off-road motorcycle racing championship in the world. She also taught journalism for five years at both the college and high school levels after working in multiple journalistic roles, including newspaper reporter, copy editor, photographer and motocross magazine editor.
As a child growing up in Florida, "Shepp" was introduced to motorcycles at the age of 4 and started storytelling her adventures as one of the only females at the dirt bike track. She continued to race throughout high school, earning a Florida state championship, and currently competes at an expert level. Her role at the CoJMC includes teaching beginning sports writing courses and helping students turn their passions into a career as she did with motocross.
