NBS is designed to enhance the development of college and university students involved in telecomunications, broadcasting, cable and other electronic media by:

• promoting excellence.
• providing opportunities for leadership.
• providing exposure to the telecommunication industries.
• assisting in career preparation.
• providing opportunities for the development of members through advanced media education programs at chapter, district, regional and national levels.
