I arrived in Milwaukee not long after school got out for the summer, May 14, and used the few days I had before I started work as an opportunity to learn a little bit about my surroundings. As for the city, Milwaukee is beautiful city and way older than I could have imagined. Tall steeples and ancient clock towers line the cityscape for a truly unforgettable sight. The fact that the city rests directly on the shoulders of Lake Michigan doesn't hurt either.
As for my living situation, I live in a small apartment on the campus of Marquette University. A lot of the buildings around this area are a little run-down. I have two roommates: Luke, a senior marketing/finance intern (not from Milwaukee); and Lydia, a freshman who is taking summer classes at Marquette. We are expecting another roommate from Atlanta, Ga. (that's all we know about her) and aren't sure when she will arrive.
The first month of the internship has been great. I have been very busy just trying to keep up with everyone here in the office, and I am slowly developing my own role as time progresses. Currently, I am spending a large majority of my time on the Honeywell, Carts of Colorado and Missouri River Plastics account. My job is pay-per-click and search engine optimization, which fills about 98% of my time. I have learned a great deal and I am so glad that I am working so heavily on one aspect (and one that I didn't know much about). I know that I will return to UNL with plenty of new knowledge and experience and pay-per-click seems to be my niche at the moment.
I can't wait to see what the rest of the summer has to offer. I'm positive that I will gain even more valuable experience that will help me in the future. Until next time, go Brewers!
