I am Ahab
August 1, 2007 Andy Boyle, Erie Times-News in Erie, Penn.
Two more days of my internship. When I leave, I'll have spent 88 days out here. 70 some odd articles and 60 total days of work. I've been to Washington, D.C., Pittsburgh, Cleveland, Buffalo, the Niagara Falls and Meadville.
Ah, Meadville. Home of Ida Tarbell and really not much else, but I love the small town just the same.
I've grown to love a lot of little things around Erie, including small towns like Meadville to the south. I've learned to dig different things -- ghost tours, beaches and microbrews.
When I hit my 15 hour trek to South Sioux City, I think I'll have earned seeing this grand country of ours. Hopefully my destination next summer takes me somewhere I've never "experienced" before. I've experienced California, Texas and other parts of the country. I haven't experienced the Pacific Northwest or the Southwest.
Who knows where I'll be next. But late Saturday, I'll be home. And then after that, Lincoln.
And after that, who knows. I don't know if I'll be posting anymore blogs before I leave (or after), but I hope whomever has been reading enjoyed it.
And just remember: When the going gets weird, the weird turn pro.
