Sheri (Cross) Sallee’s career as a health care strategist spans nearly two decades in public relations, cause marketing, public affairs and corporate communications. Early in her career, Sheri specialized in high-science communications at Edelman’s Chicago health practice. She led global public relations programs, launching new medicines to beat drug-resistant superbugs and starve cancerous tumors. Partnerships forged on behalf of her clients introduced Sheri to the National Colorectal Cancer Research Alliance (NCCRA), co-founded by journalist Katie Couric. Her relationship building led to an opportunity to join Perry Communications Group in Sacramento, Calif.
At Perry, Sheri supported the NCCRA in breaking down colon cancer stigma and boosting preventive screening rates. She also earned regional Public Relations Society of America accolades for cause campaigns supporting smoking cessation and patient care access. In 2007, Sheri took her campaign skills to the corporate setting by joining one of northern California’s leading health systems, Sutter Health. There, she created change-communications strategies enabling transformational initiatives, including Sutter Health’s electronic health record, physician network, accountable care strategy and administrative services reorganization.
Sheri’s latest leap of faith came in the summer of 2013, when she and her husband returned to Nebraska with their two daughters and son. Her career journey and family’s health experiences launched her passion for child health advocacy. She is a member of the Coalition Against Childhood Cancer.
