Nebraska Press Association Recognizes Five University of Nebraska–Lincoln Students

Five University of Nebraska-Lincoln College of Journalism and Mass Communications students swept the top honors at the Nebraska Press Association’s annual collegiate writing and photojournalism competitions last week.

The NPA competitions are open to students from all collegiate journalism programs in Nebraska. Students are given an assignment and a limited amount of time to produce a story or photos.

Winners in the writing competition were: Zach Fulciniti, first place award of $300; Sophie Tatum, second place award of $200; Madison Bell, third place award and a certificate of recognition. The Butch and Nancy Furse Foundation sponsors the writing awards.

Winners in the photojournalism competition were: Amber Baesler, first place award of $300; Calla Kessler, second place award of $200. The Omaha World-Herald and the Zean and Marilyn Carney family sponsor the photojournalism awards.
