We had packed house over the weekend as alums traveled across the country to celebrate the life and legacy of Professor George Tuck. Speakers included CoJMC alums Jennifer Gutierrez (‘90), Mike Theiler (‘76), Julia Dean (‘92), Joel Sartore (‘85) and George and Mary Lynn’s dear friend Sherri Johnson. Media trainings aim to help public health leaders build trust in communities

As the COVID-19 pandemic swept across the globe, the importance of effective communication in the public health sector became more apparent than ever before. CoJMC’s Associate dean for research and faculty affairs and Lawrence L. and Ruth E. Pike Professor in Journalism Cory Armstrong and assistant professor of practice Sharon Baldinelli designed a series of media trainings recently attended by Nebraska’s public health directors.

Jake Albanez

Albanez breaks Guinness World Record

Jake Albanez, a 2011 College of Journalism and Mass Communications graduate, set a new world record during the 10th annual Good Life Halfsy held in Lincoln last November and on January 3, 2024, his record-breaking accomplishment was officially certified by Guinness World Records.

The Alumni Masters program honors UNL Alumni who have demonstrated success and leadership in their fields.

Bill Doleman was named the February Professor of the Month, Hannah Roebke was awarded the February Student of the Month and Adam Wagler, Haley Hamel and Alisa Smith were selected as the February Not Too Shabby award winners.
