A junior broadcasting major at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln is the 2014 Nebraska Press Women Memorial Scholarship winner. Chelsea Eaton is the daughter of Shari and Joseph Eaton of Eagan, Minn., and is well on her way to a successful broadcasting career.

As a high school senior, Chelsea spent six months as a news intern for KSTP in Minneapolis, Minn. Since then she had an internship at the Nebraska Transportation Center where she worked with media relations and this past year was employed as a student worker for Nebraska Educational Telecommunications (NET). During her time at NET she served as a production assistant for a series of videos and also edited and produced various interstitials for the station.

Eaton founded “Husker Hub,” an hour-long entertainment-based radio talk show for KRNU radio at University of Nebraska–Lincoln and served as the show’s co-host and co-producer each week.

This summer she is headed to New York City for an internship with “The Chew,” a food talk show on the ABC network.

Eaton’s goal is to graduate in May of 2015 with a degree in broadcasting from the University of Nebraska–Lincoln College of Journalism and Mass Communications.
