ABC News on Campus
CoJMC opened the newest ABC News On Campus bureau in August, offering students the opportunity to work with and learn from professionals at a national broadcast news network. The On Campus program is a partnership between the ABC television network's news division and seven leading journalism schools.
The bureau, on the second floor of Andersen Hall, is modeled on a network news bureau with full multimedia newsgathering responsibilities and its own state-of-the-art camera equipment, computers and editing software. The bureau employs four CoJMC students; professor Kathy Christensen serves as the adviser.
Private funding for the news bureau is made possible with support to the University of Nebraska Foundation from Sarah M. Lahr of Falls Church, Va., and the Sarah Lahr Educational Fund. Lahr, a 1938 journalism graduate of the University of Nebraska, is a longtime supporter of education.
Other journalism colleges in the ABC News On Campus program include Arizona State University, Syracuse University, University of Florida, University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and University of Texas at Austin.
