Student Travel Writers Needed
Island-Hop, Inc. is a start up company that is creating an online travel directory and is actively looking for several journalism students with above average research and writing skills. Island-Hop's focus is on island groups around the world.
During the initial content gathering phase, assignments can be completed from research conducted through the Internet and other resources. Most of the research can be completed from the comfort of your own home or personal work area. Island-Hop is looking for students who are interested in developing their craft in a real world work situation and who are passionate about writing.
Students will be competing against one another for a limited number of openings. All entrants will be asked to complete a very short written assignment based on a fictitious property. The assignments will then be evaluated based on each writer's creativity, research skills, syntax, grammar and the ability to convey clear concise descriptions of businesses, activities, events and locations in a way that will motivate readers into action. The top students will be asked to join our team as a research assistant or contributing writer.
If selected, your first assignment will be to conduct research and produce short descriptive articles for 25 island-based businesses. This portion of the assignment is without pay. After completion of these articles, the top writers will be asked to produce regular page content and feature articles for Island-Hop, Inc. Island-Hop will give writer credits or bylines on all work used for the feature articles and contributing writer credit for regular page content.
After completing the first portion of the assignment, students who prove themselves reliable and produce quality content will be asked to join Island-Hop's team in a paid position. For these students, there will also be many opportunities to combine work with travel.
Thank you for your show of interest and I hope that we will have a chance to work together in the future. There will be tremendous opportunities for some as we create a more informed traveler.
