KOLN Meteorologist
KOLN/KGIN-TV is currently seeking applicants for a full-time meteorologist in the Lincoln newsroom.
Duties include:
Preparing, producing, and anchoring weather segments in newscasts for the station and/or other media as assigned by the News Director. Operating all current and future weather equipment at the station, and maintaining those skills necessary to perform the tasks of Meteorologist such as, but not limited to, computer graphics, weather data interpretation, and forecast preparation. Participating in the development of the station's severe weather policy and being available for duty in times of emergency weather. Represent the station in dealings with all sectors of the public, and preparing and producing promotional material for the News Department as assigned by the News Director. Perform any other function relative to the station's operations and policy as assigned by the News Director. Maintain an exemplary appearance while on the air, including proper dress, make-up and grooming.
Qualifications include:
College degree in Meteorology and AMS Seal. The knowledge and ability to perform the duties as outlined above. Must be familiar with all aspects of newsroom practices and related equipment. Knowledge of journalism ethics, slander and libel laws. Good public relation skills are essential. Effective and articulate communication skills are required. Maintain a permanent residence in Lancaster County. Valid driver's license and satisfactory driving record.
The work schedule may vary due to temporary or permanent schedule changes. Work assignments may include evening, weekend and out-of-town overnight assignments. Reasonable and regular attendance is required.
