What kind of positions are we looking to fill? We're looking for a number of "specialized" positions, but we can make room for just about anything you're interested in getting involved with.
We are in dire need of a general secretary, someone who is reliable and willing to put their free time to use for the DailyER. Responsibilities of the secretary would include applying for grants, completing university paperwork, organizing the writers' daily content and responding to daily email.
We are also pushing heavily to put together a passionate advertising team. We need active students who are passionate about the continued success of the DailyER and are willing to work with businesses to not only gain their advertising, but work on new and innovate techniques for advertising for their success as well as our own.
Cartoonist. Good at drawing? Funny?
Layout/design: Anyone working with the layout team must have a working knowledge of Adobe InDesign. Photoshop and Illustrator skills are handy as well.
And lastly, WRITERS: We're always looking for more writers, but finding the type we need is rare. The nature of our paper requires our writers to not only have experience with news writing and AP style, but also have a creative and humorous personality. Satirical humor is all about finding the balance, and a lot of people struggle with that. Please send several clippings that exemplify this balance along with your application if you are applying to be a writer. If you do not have any previous works of this type, please indicate so in the 'Other' section of the application.
The items listed above are the positions we're most eager to fill, but as I said, we'll work with anyone to find a position that works for them. Please let me know if you have any further questions. We'd love to see you in the fall (unless you require payment).
Respectfully-ER,
Carson Vaughan
