Interships for writers, photographers, and videographers

The Community Justice Center is a locally based non-profit organization that is currently offering an internship to qualified UNL journalism students. We need talented journalists to tell the story of how crime affects victims and their families, criminal offenders and their families, and the community at large. Our internship is paid, and it offers a great opportunity for those students who want to see the impact of their writing firsthand.

How it works: Our internship is different from those offered at newspapers. We use articles from journalists (and interns) in our criminal rehabilitation classes to teach former criminal offenders how the crimes they commit affect their families and the community of which they are a part. The stories our interns write are vital to the continued success of our organization. Our interns give voice to the Lincoln community.

When you intern with our team, you can be part of an organization that has a track record of reducing criminal recidivism. Criminals who read the articles you will write as part of our program are far less likely to re-offend: CJC participants are three times less likely than non-CJC participants.

If you are a talented young writer, photographer or videographer looking to make a difference in your community, please attend the Community Justice Center informational meeting at the College of Journalism and Mass Communications on Wednesday, Dec. 10 at 5:30 p.m. in Room 213. Please bring your resume, two letters of recommendation and five or more of your best clips.

Previous internship experience is appreciated by not required.
