2007 Internships @ MLB Advanced Media
MLB Advanced Media, L.P. (MLBAM) is the interactive media and Internet company of Major League Baseball. MLBAM manages the official league site, www.MLB.com <http://www.mlb.com/> , and each of the 30 individual club sites to create the most comprehensive resource for Major League Baseball on the Internet.
MLB.com will offer 33 writing internships for juniors, seniors and grad students next summer, plus its parent MLB Advanced Media has internship opportunities in finance, marketing and other areas. The 2007 Summer Internship Program is in New York and in team cities across the country. We pay $8.50 an hour for undergrads and $10 an hour for those in graduate school and expect interns to complete a minimum of eight to 10 weeks with us, dates determined by a person's college schedule.
Application period for all internships runs from Oct. 1 through Dec. 15.
Reporting Internships
Want an exciting summer of covering Major League or Minor League Baseball? MLB.com offers 33 reporting internships to aspiring sportswriters. These internships are designed to give "associates" the full range of experiences that comes with covering a professional team. Each associate will work closely with a site reporter to give visitors to a team's Web site all the information they need to follow the team from Opening Day to season's end. Each Major League city will have one associate, and MLB.com, which manages the Web site for MiLB, will offer three internships for the Minor Leagues. In most cities, a car is a requirement. Streaming Media
Interns assist production of video and audio features, including sourcing material from the library, digitizing audio & video, helping organize the digital asset library and general production assistance. Must be very organized and quick to learn; baseball knowledge and computer skills a must. Experience with adobe premiere, sound forge, ftp and other web interfaces a huge plus. Finance
Interns compile and analyze various company data from various revenue streams as well as review and analyze trends, forecasts, year-to-year data, top selling items, percentages, ratios, etc. They will also assist with special projects assigned to the accounting/finance group. Marketing
Intern will aid in the analysis, coordination and production of marketing materials, including: using web-based tools to gather and compile website traffic and email reports, analyzing traffic behavior for subscriptions and other product lines, coordination and submission of marketing materials for offline publications, responding to general marketing inquiries, organization of overall marketing files, and general administrative duties. Club Marketing
Intern will assure overall quality of the Club sites and newsletters through daily review, compile in-season and end-of-season results, best practices and Club tip sheets as well as compile results for Club sweepstakes, registration initiatives, Club newsletters/alerts and online forms.
Additional responsibilities include monitoring and tracking various Club marketing initiatives (advertising, promotions, fanfests, drop-ins, barter deals). An e-commerce intern is responsible for supporting the Buyers with general administrative duties. These duties include item creation, general website maintenance, purchase orders entry, and vendor follow-up. Legal
Intern will support the MLBAM Legal Department in a variety of manners including assistance with administration of MLBAM-partner contracts, preparation of agreements based on MLBAM forms, searching the Internet for infringements of MLB proprietary assets, file maintenance and other assignments as requested. Technology
Interns control/manage and cleanup documentation intranet server, perform QA activities, label and document all wiring and servers in new datacenter build out, collect and maintain backup tapes for offsite storage and handle physical asset tagging and cataloging of office assets (laptops, servers, printers, software, etc) for finance dept.
