Dedication ceremony held for new NPA headquarters

One year after plans were announced for a new headquarters, the Nebraska Press Association and Nebraska Press Advertising Service dedicated their renovated building on April 23.

Officiating at the event were Russ Pankonin of Imperial and Jim Dickerson of Elgin, who served as presidents of NPAS and NPA, respectively, during the purchase and renovation of the building at 845 “S” St. in Lincoln.

Gov. Mike Johanns, Lincoln Mayor Dale Young and Sen. Doug Kristensen of Minden, speaker of the Legislature, spoke at the event. Secretary of State Scott Moore and Attorney General Don Stenberg also attended.

As part of the dedication, a ribbon-cutting ceremony was held. The ribbon was a chain formed from the flags of Nebraska newspapers.

A luncheon was held at the new headquarters before the dedication ceremonies, and an open house followed the dedication.

The “S” Street building was purchased for $400,000. The cost to renovate, furnish, equip and landscape the building totaled about $385,000.

NPA/NPAS began operating in the new headquarters in early December after moving from 1120 “K” St.
