Lincoln columnist wins national writing contest

  Cindy Lange-Kubick won first place in a national feature writing contest sponsored by the American Association of Sunday and Features Editors. Her story, “Russ Riley, a life of dreams, delusions: how mental illness drove ‘anybody’s son’ to kill,” took top honors in the general feature writing category for daily newspapers with circulations of up to 75,000 readers. The story ran in the Dec. 3, 2000, edition of the Lincoln Journal Star.
