I thought [the NewsCapade] brought a hands-on look to journalism that is special. Mostly when you think of news or anything from the media it is being directed at you and you are being told. Here you could look up facts about your birthday, think over ethical problems in your head, watch events in history such as Baby Jessica, Tiannamen Square, O.J., riots, Olympic bombing, etc. I think this showed that the regular person does have an effect on news and that one isnt just an inaudible member of an anonymous audience.
J Days was a wonderful experience. This is the first time in my collegiate career that going to college meant something. Professor Lauermans class (which planned J Days) deserves a huge pat on the back for all of their hard work. NewsCapade was awesome, the luncheon was great and The Freedom Forum was something that showed everyone in the college that going to school at Nebraska means something. Usually forums like that happen somewhere else, but we still had big names here. Neuharth and DVorkin dont get much bigger.
Thanks for the news.
