Alumni Achievement
Lynn Gottschalk Roper received the 2002 Lifetime Achievement Award from Merrill Lynch in December. A 1970 journalism graduate, she is resident manager and first vice president in Merrill Lynch's Lincoln office.
The award recognizes those employees whose ongoing commitment to community service best exemplifies the principle of responsible citizenship, one of five principles that guide the investment banks and financial adviser, according to a press release from the firm.
"We recognize Lynn for her past and current contributions with 13 local charitable organizations," said George Dembski, director at Merrill Lynch. "She has given generously of her own time, talent and resources for the betterment of others and her community."
She has been active with many community organizations over the past 25 years. Currently she serves on the Nebraska Environmental Trust Board, the Madonna Hospital Board, the Lincoln City Library Board, the UNL Foundation Finance Committee and is Treasurer of the Mari Sandoz Heritage Society.
She is also a past member of the Journalism Alumni board.
