Bio:
Adam Wagler is an Advertising and Public Relations faculty member at the College of Journalism and Mass Communications at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln where he teaches New Media Design, Strategic Communications Graphics, Mobile & Social Media Strategy and Visual Literacy courses. Currently, he is working on an NIH Stimulus grant project for the World of Viruses developing iPad applications. He also has worked on a number of other special projects developing products and generating ideas for mobile devices and interactive media. Projects included a $1.8 million grant, The Omaha Science Media Project, which tested the hypothesis that high school students can learn science better by utilizing a journalistic approach.

The summer of 2011 included leading a study abroad trip to Moscow and Sochi, Russia that focused on applications of mobile media. Also that summer, Adam was awarded an Apple Distinguished Educator membership, which included a one-week digital media workshop in Phoenix, Arizona. During the summer of 2010 a course was developed and dedicated to the 2010 USA Special Olympics National Games, which was held in Lincoln. Working directly with Special Olympics students provided coverage and promotional materials for the organization using a dedicated website and social media.

He graduated from Iowa State University's College of Design with a Bachelor of Fine Arts majoring in Visual Studies. His degree had an emphasis in Drawing, Photography, & Computer Graphics and included a semester abroad at Swansea University in Wales. He also holds a master's degree in Marketing, Communications and Advertising from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. Currently, he is working towards a Ph.D. at UNL in Instructional Technology with an emphasis in informal learning using emerging technologies.

Prior to coming to UNL, Adam worked as a designer in the Midwest and Southwest. After some time in Des Moines, Iowa at a video production house he moved to Tucson, Arizona and worked in the trade show industry. While in the desert he maintained Web sites as well as designed and produced a wide variety of print materials, primarily large-format graphics, for trade shows and conventions.

In his spare time, Adam enjoys hanging out with his wife, Madeline, being with friends, technology, biking, photography, art, playing guitar, cooking, learning and traveling. In a former life, he played drums in a punk rock band for almost five years, and recorded with a country band called Moonshine Radio.
