Sriyani Tidball is a lecturer at the College of Journalism and Mass Communications, teaching advertising and public relations. She is a graduate of the COJMC, earning a Master of Journalism in 1991. She is also a qualified architect with a Bachelor of Arts in architecture from UNL and BSc (architecture) from University of Sri Lanka and the Royal Institute of British Architecture Part One.

Prior to joining COJMC in 2008, she had worked between Sri Lanka and the U.S.  and continues to do so. She has worked at both McCann Worldwide and Draft FCB in Sri Lanka where she held a senior level position in the international advertising agency for more than 20 years.  She has many years of experience in publishing, promotions and freelance writing.  She has been the chief editor of three magazines: American Mothers and the Lied Magazine and is still the editor of Lincoln Today Magazine, an award-winning, annual lifestyle publication. She is the business manager of her husband, Tom's, business, Tidball Photography, and she has been published in international travel magazines and travel guides over the years, illustrating her husband's photos.

The Tidballs founded a non-profit social service organization in Sri Lanka in 1981 (Community Concern Society) active in social mobilization and community development with the poor on the island. She is a committed activist for human rights. She has extensive volunteer experience in working with drug addicts, orphans and destitute families. She also helped set up a home for orphaned children, a residential facility for homeless, abused and trafficked women and children and a school for dropout and unschooled beach children in Sri Lanka. She was involved in the rebuilding of homes in Sri Lanka after the tsunami.

At the CoJMC, she teaches a number of classes in advertising and PR and special topics classes on social justice and corporate social responsibility. Some of her classes include research and strategy, public relations, social justice, and global advertising. She has taken students on study abroad trips to Asia including, Cambodia, Malaysia and Sri Lanka.  She is the faculty adviser for NUSAMS (Nebraska University Students Against Modern-day Slavery), an active student group bringing awareness about human trafficking to the UNL campus, and has been the chair of UNL's international research conference on human trafficking two of the past three years. She has presented her research on human trafficking at these conferences.
